Feedback from Tilehurst residents told us that a major cause of dissatisfaction with the environment was the large amount of dog mess that was to be seen in the streets and open spaces.
The Tilehurst Globe Group decided to confront this problem with a two-pronged response:
The leaflet has been adopted by Reading Borough Council, and also by a number of other local authorities. It has been distributed to vets, public libraries and other sources likely to provide exposure to dog owners.
We chose Blagrave Recreation Park as the site for the action day; it is a park in the centre of the village and is used by children and dog owners. We chose a Saturday morning when there a a lot of people around.
The effects of these have been significant and led to an immediate improvement.
